Shock in Argentina as 18-Year-Old Camilo Nuin Dies Post-Surgery
Argentine midfielder Camilo Nuin has passed away following surgery on a knee injury, although the exact cause of his death remains unknown.
The 18-year-old player, who had been with second-division club San Telmo since 2022 and was previously part of the Boca Juniors and Independiente academies, underwent surgery for a meniscus and anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.
Nuin’s teammates learned of his death shortly before a friendly match, which was subsequently cancelled. The cause of death has not yet been disclosed, with Argentine media reporting that more details will be released pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation.
Claudio Tapia, president of the Argentine Football Association (AFA), wrote on X:
"Very sad news that has shocked the football world."
In an official statement, the AFA also said:
“The Argentine Football Association, through its president Claudio Tapia and the board of directors, extends its condolences for the passing of Camilo Nuin and expresses its sympathy to the player’s family.”
