Bryan Mbeumo Officially Joins the Top 10 Most Expensive Players at Old Trafford
Manchester United continues its tradition of big-spending, shelling out 82 million euros to sign Bryan Mbeumo, making him the sixth most expensive player at Old Trafford.
According to British media, Manchester United has completed the transfer of Bryan Mbeumo as per Ruben Amorim's wishes. The Red Devils paid Brentford 82 million euros (71 million pounds), including 6.9 million euros in additional fees, split into four payments.
Bryan Mbeumo was immediately added to MU's list of transfer targets for this summer, but negotiations with Brentford were not easy, as the opposition insisted on a price of 65 million pounds.
Manchester United had previously made two unsuccessful bids, each worth 63 million euros (55 million pounds) and 72 million euros (62.5 million pounds). As a result, they ultimately had to pay the amount demanded by Brentford, plus an additional 6 million pounds as a fee to agree on a payment structure that would be paid in installments.
Mbeumo will sign a five-year contract with MU after passing a medical, with his salary increasing more than fourfold compared to when he joined Brentford, from 45,000 pounds per week to 190,000 pounds per week.
Meanwhile, by spending up to 82 million euros, MU has made Bryan Mbeumo the sixth most expensive player in the club's history.
The list of MU's 10 most expensive contracts includes: Paul Pogba (105 million euros), Antony (95 million euros), Harry Maguire (87 million euros), Jadon Sancho (85 million euros), Romelu Lukaku (84.7 million euros), Bryan Mbeumo (soon to arrive, 82 million euros), Rasmus Hojlund (77 million euros), Di Maria (75 million euros), Matheus Cunha (first summer signing, 74 million euros), and Casemiro (70.7 million euros).
