Epic Comeback! Al Hilal Eliminates Man City 4-3 in Club World Cup
Despite falling behind early, Al Hilal played boldly and pulled off a spectacular comeback against Manchester City in the Round of 16 at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
Manchester City were eliminated by the Saudi club Al Hilal in a dramatic Round of 16 clash, which ended in a thrilling 4-3 victory.
The match was intense and action-packed, with both sides exchanging goals. Bernardo Silva gave Manchester City the lead in the 9th minute. Marcos Leonardo then equalized early in the second half, scoring in the 46th minute.
Al Hilal responded and briefly took the lead through a goal by Malcom in the 52nd minute, before Erling Haaland brought City back level in the 55th minute.
With the score tied at 2-2, the match went into extra time. Kalidou Koulibaly struck for Al Hilal in the 94th minute, but Phil Foden, who had just come on four minutes earlier, equalized again in the 104th minute to make it 3-3.

Marcos Leonardo scored his second goal of the match in the 113th minute, putting Al Hilal ahead 4-3 once again. Manchester City pressed hard for another equalizer but couldn’t find the net. Al Hilal secured a dramatic 4-3 win over Manchester City and advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
Al Hilal is the only Asian representative remaining in the Club World Cup held in America. In the next match, Al Hilal will meet Brazilian club Fluminense.
