From Sociedad to North London: Martin Zubimendi to Arsenal

With a transfer fee of 65 million euros, Arsenal has just completed its second signing of the summer by recruiting Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad.

This is a deal that is not only an investment for the present but also for the long-term future, as the 26-year-old midfielder is considered one of the best players in his position in La Liga.

Zubimendi is not only a great player but also a much-needed addition for Arsenal following the departures of Thomas Partey and Jorginho, who moved to Flamengo.

With a lack of depth and personnel in midfield, particularly in the ‘number 6’ role, manager Mikel Arteta needed a player who could control the game, maintain the rhythm, and help build play from the back, and Zubimendi fits that role perfectly.

Before joining Arsenal, Zubimendi turned down Liverpool last season. Zubimendi's refusal to join Liverpool and his decision to stay at Sociedad last season demonstrated his character and loyalty to his former club, but his choice to move to Arsenal marks a major turning point in his career.

Not only does Zubimendi provide Arteta with more quality tactical options, but he also promises to be a key factor in rebuilding Arsenal's midfield, which needs renewal to compete at the top level.

At Arsenal, Martin will wear the number 36 jersey. If he can meet expectations, Zubimendi could become the much-needed link in the midfield at Emirates Stadium and bring Arsenal closer to major titles.
