Newcastle United Sign Anthony Elanga for £55 Million

Newcastle United has agreed to a deal with Nottingham Forest for the transfer of Anthony Elanga, with a fee of up to £55 million.

According to British media outlet Sky Sports, although there are still some minor details to be finalized, the basic contract has been agreed upon by both parties.

Elanga is preparing to travel to Tyneside to undergo a medical examination and officially join the team at St James' Park. With a transfer fee of £55 million, Elanga becomes the most expensive winger in Newcastle's history.

Notably, Manchester United benefits from a sell-on clause for Elanga. The Old Trafford club will receive 15% of the profit, equivalent to £6 million. This is an unexpected yet significant income, given that Manchester United is in need of funds to sign Bryan Mbeumo.

This is a significant step forward for the 23-year-old Swedish winger, who enjoyed an exceptional season at Nottingham Forest last year, scoring 18 goals and providing 11 assists across all competitions, making him one of the most dangerous attackers in the Premier League. With his speed and physicality, Elanga was a key asset in Forest's counterattacks.

Newcastle's decision to sign Elanga demonstrates manager Eddie Howe's confidence in the young player. According to Sky Sports journalist William Bitibiri, Elanga spent last summer training intensively with personal fitness coach Tom Joyce, who has helped him achieve peak fitness and physical condition. Ambition and a desire to continue developing are seen as key factors in Elanga's rapid improvement.

Joining Newcastle, Elanga will have the opportunity to reunite with his compatriot Alexander Isak and promises to form a formidable duo in the Champions League.
